Permits authorise or control specific work conditions. Inductions confirm that people have received the workplace, project or task information required for access or work.
From the first task question to permit close-out and workplace entry.
ONE uses the task activities and workplace context to identify permit and induction pathways that may apply, prepares the relevant workflow, keeps authorised verification and issue separate, and feeds current status into Work Clearance.
Permits and inductions are not separate paperwork problems when they are prerequisites for the same piece of work.
When external people participate, ONE can apply the appropriate ongoing, short-term or information-only pathway after the relationship is understood; purchasers do not need to classify them from product terminology first.
A task can have a good procedure and still not be ready if the required permit is pending or the worker has not completed the relevant induction.
ONE uses the work activities and workplace context to connect permit screening and induction requirements to the same task, then carries their current status into readiness and Work Clearance.
Some work needs permission. Some workplaces need proof you belong there. ONE connects both to the task.
A permit controls authorised work under defined conditions. An induction confirms the person has received the relevant workplace or task information. Neither should float in a separate system where the task cannot see it. ONE is designed to bring the requirement, status, timing and evidence into the readiness story.
Only ask for a permit when the trigger applies.
Hot work, confined space, excavation, isolation, lifting and other permit families can depend on the task, site and client requirements.
Right person. Right site. Right information.
General, workplace, project and task-specific induction needs can differ. ONE should avoid unnecessary repetition where current evidence can be reused.
Permission is useful only while its conditions remain true.
Expiry, changed conditions or a different work scope should bring the relevant permit or induction requirement back into view.
ONE should generate the pathway from the activities — not wait for somebody to remember the permit or induction.
The same task facts can drive the work document, permit screening, induction needs and readiness checks. ONE reduces re-entry, but it does not replace the authorised people who verify, issue, accept or release controlled records.
Understand what will actually happen.
The work sequence, plant, materials, location, services, hazards and people can trigger different prerequisites.
Prepare what applies.
ONE can bring forward the relevant permit workflow and induction layers using information already known about the task and workplace.
Keep authority separate.
Workers complete assigned inductions and permit sign-on where required. Authorised roles verify, issue, suspend, revalidate and close permits.
Ready or not ready stays visible.
An incomplete induction, missing sign-on, suspended permit or unresolved condition can change whether the work is ready to proceed.
Open the right workplace. Check the induction before work.
A workplace QR code, pre-arrival link, assignment or user-confirmed workplace can open the relevant induction and task pathway in ONE. If an induction is incomplete or expired, ONE can direct the person to what must be completed before work.
Confirm — do not assume.
The person opens or confirms the workplace. ONE then checks the relevant readiness information; location alone does not prove attendance or induction completion.
Complete the relevant pathway.
ONE shows the induction or update that applies to that person and workplace before they can be treated as ready.
Scan and continue.
Scan the QR code, open a pre-arrival link or assignment, or select the workplace in ONE. The initial launch does not depend on background geofencing.
A permit is not finished when it is issued.
ONE keeps the whole permit story visible: why it was triggered, what was verified, who issued and signed on, whether conditions changed, and whether the permit was properly closed out.
Does the task trigger a permit?
ONE uses the work activities and verified workplace rules to bring the relevant permit family into view.
Reuse the task facts.
Known people, plant, location and task information can pre-populate the permit process instead of being entered again.
Authorised people decide.
Physical checks, issue and worker sign-on remain permission-controlled events.
Keep conditions current.
Expiry, suspension, changed conditions or hazards can alter Work Clearance and require work to pause or be reviewed.
Close the permit and retain the evidence.
Work completion can trigger the close-out step, but the permit closes only through the authorised close-out process.

Same work. Different context. Different answer.
ONE is designed to adapt the pathway to the task, industry, jurisdiction, workplace rules and verified requirements — rather than forcing every organisation into the same generic form.
Start with what the person is actually going to do.
Industry, jurisdiction, workplace, people, plant and client requirements can change the pathway.
Apply the right legal and workplace language only when the applicable source is known.
Choose the appropriate document, checks, prerequisites and evidence — without hiding uncertainty.
The document or check is not the destination.
The practical value comes from keeping the work, prerequisites, controls and evidence connected.
Connect authorisation to the relevant work.
Where a permit applies, the requirement, status, timing and evidence should remain connected to the task rather than becoming an isolated PDF.
Connect person and workplace.
Induction status can be part of the readiness picture when a person is assigned to a workplace or client environment.
Do not forget time limits.
Expired or changed prerequisites should be capable of bringing affected work back into attention.
Share what is needed.
Network or external review may be able to share readiness status without always sharing the full underlying document.
Connect the topic back to the work.
ONE is designed so task information can contribute to a broader Work Assurance picture rather than becoming another disconnected file.
What are you going to do?
Start from the work and the current context.
What applies?
Surface the people, workplace, control and evidence items that matter.
What is unresolved?
Show missing, expired, unknown or changed items in plain language.
Who decides?
Keep system findings separate from the authorised human decision.
See where your current task information, prerequisites and evidence may be fragmented across people, folders and systems.
Questions about this part of ONE.
Open only the question that matters to you.
Does ONE wait for someone to remember a permit?
It should not. Task activities, workplace context and controlled requirements can trigger permit screening and the relevant workflow from the task itself.
Can a geofence automatically mark someone inducted?
No. Location alone does not complete an induction. At initial launch, use a QR code, workplace link, assignment or user-confirmed location to open the relevant pathway. The actual induction process must still be completed.
What happens to a permit when the task finishes?
Work Complete can trigger permit close-out requirements. The permit remains an auditable controlled record through verification, issue, sign-on, suspension or extension and final close-out.
I still have another question. What should I do?
Use the green Ask ONE button or the full ONE FAQs first. Register Interest is for joining a ONE pathway, not routine product questions.
Induction and permit acknowledgements can follow the worker's actual access pathway.
Connected Workers and Safety Access users can participate digitally where enabled. If no digital worker connection is activated, controlled information can still be sent to the supplying organisation or person through the external pack pathway.
Digital acknowledgement does not make a worker an authorised organisational approver. Acceptance and release remain separate controlled management events.
